What Is Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar About?
Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar, whose title translates to “Prima Facie Guilty,” follows Aleena Abraham, a woman who joins the police force through a compassionate appointment after her husband is martyred in a police sting operation.
Her new life as a constable in a visibly male-dominated academy quickly turns into something much darker, the film centers on a fatal mistake and the police cover-up that follows it, turning into a tense, grounded investigation where Aleena finds herself caught between loyalty to the force and the pressure of an unraveling truth. Directed by Shahad Nilambur, it’s being described as a cat-and-mouse thriller that asks what happens when the people hiding the truth are the police themselves.
Who Is in the Cast of Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar?
Parvathy Thiruvothu leads Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar in the role of Aleena Abraham, marking her first appearance in uniform in a Malayalam film.

Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar is available to stream on Netflix starting today, October 9, 2026, in its original Malayalam along with Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi dubbed or subtitled versions.
This multi-language rollout on day one is a fairly strong signal of confidence from Netflix, since many South Indian films only get a limited-language streaming release before expanding later if demand justifies it. For more entertainment and streaming updates, check out our Entertainment section.
How Did Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar Perform at the Box Office?
Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar collected approximately ₹41 crore worldwide during its theatrical run, which opened on September 11, 2026.
The breakdown includes around ₹24.3 crore in India net collections, ₹28.27 crore in India gross, and roughly ₹12.66 crore from overseas markets. For a grounded investigative thriller without big-budget action set pieces, this is considered a steady, respectable performance, driven more by positive word of mouth than opening-weekend hype.
Is Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar Based on a True Story?
No, Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar is not based on a specific true story or real documented case, it’s a fictional thriller, though its themes of police accountability and institutional cover-ups are grounded in real, widely-discussed concerns rather than invented from nowhere.
This distinction matters because several recent Malayalam thrillers dealing with police or institutional misconduct have been inspired by actual cases, so it’s a fair question for viewers to ask, but no source material or true-crime basis has been reported for this specific film.
What Are Critics Saying About Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar?
Gulf News’s review called it a gritty cop cover-up thriller and noted it deliberately avoids being compared to Drishyam despite surface similarities, treating that as a strength rather than a weakness.
Parvathy Thiruvothu’s performance has been singled out as a highlight, described as frightened and resourceful without ever feeling overdone, and the writing has generally been praised for sustaining tension across its 158-minute runtime. The most common criticism across reviews is that the climax reveal lands as somewhat predictable, even as the overall film is considered a gripping, well-made cat-and-mouse thriller.
